Climate Change

My six year daughter came to me and asked Papa when you were kid then also we didn't received the rains. I was not able to answer as only we are responsible for not letting them the joy of floating paper boats, which we did when we were kids as the rains used to come like rains now they come as relief. Is the climate change responsible for sudden disappearance of the rains from our horizons, the rainy day when schools used to get closed due to incessant rain, times when the pour was a week long phenomena ; sun not coming out for days , mothers complaining about not being able to get the clothes dry and elders use to enjoy the chai with pakaori; what were the days ; days of masti; my daughter is being deprived of such basic enjoyment and who is responsible for it we ; to fill the gap we have created computer games; no more there are sensuous rain songs ; remember the famous love duet of Nargis and Raj Kapoor; suddenly we realise that all the cultural practices related to rain are disappearing; now we have to rely on science to feel all that which was once our natural right; can we do something. Yes we can small steps are going to have big impacts. lets start with this to set our office ACs at 24 ; its small but with a big impact; lets bring the joy back and see the excitement on the face of our kids of the experience of continuous rain........

Homosexuality

Recent judgement by the Delhi High Court on the Article 377 thereby suggesting legalising of Homo sexuality has been met with diverse reactions, liberals see it as a victory of choice and the Conservative see it as beginning of end. The perspectives are important and also define the approach. Homosexuality has been part of our society and on and off there have been reports about homosexual abuses, I have been hearing about the famous Launde ka Naach in the marriages , any boy who is fair is referred to as chikana (normally a salutation reserved for girls). things which are part of the life never shock as there is an underlying legitimacy however, as soon as it comes to our face we react and if it is disturbing the status quo the reaction is violent and of disbelief.
Any way the judgement recognises the right of choice and it also stresses that it is a matter between two adults. Adult here assumes criticality and the source of rationality as if the adults cannot make wrong decisions.
Whatever, whichever side and what you think the issue has given everybody something new in the times of depression to discuss the media is abuzz, activists are over burdened running from one studio to another , bharat sena, bajrang dal and likes have got an issue to protest come on boys after a long time.
Stand up and speak out as it is an important rather a milestone decision and should be upheld in the name of respecting choices made by ADULTS
Cheers

Who are you and Which side are You

Friends there have been two main events in the past week ; which are historical and also make you think as to where do you stand
The Economic Crisis and a report “Malnourishment in India” describing the impact of the Economic Progress on Quality of life. The two are equally important and also co-related and the treatment of the same by the people who can make a difference is disturbing. The Economic Crisis has resulted in a Cabinet Meeting; talk of bail out packages; major policy changes in offering and scores of news article; analysis; shocked faces and the second on Malnourishment has been treated as a news article; no cabinet meetings ; no bail out package and no talks of policy change.
The issue points to the way we think and act
